Freelance composer of orchestral, tv and film music.

​Recent works include compositions and orchestrations for the BBC VE Day 80 - A Celebration To Remember;

 

BBC production for Holocaust Memorial Day, broadcast in January 2025;

 

ITV Royal Carols- Together at Christmas, broadcast from Westminster Abbey in December 2024;

 

BBC D-Day 80 broadcasts in June 2024, including The Allies Prepare, Tribute To The Fallen and We Will Remember Them;

 

The RBL Festival of Remembrance broadcast by the BBC from the Albert Hall in November 24;

 

The BBC Coronation Concert for King Charles and Queen Camilla broadcast in May 2024; ​

Simon Haw is Composer-in-Residence at Commonwealth Music and Assistant Director of Music of the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance, broadcast by the BBC annually in November, from the Royal Albert Hall.

 

Simon was awarded a BAFTA for his work on the Festival of Remembrance in November 2021.

​

Simon was nominated for a BAFTA for his work in the BBC broadcast in May 2022 of the Concert at Buckingham Palace for the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

  • Victory in Japan 75, broadcast from Horse Guards Parade, August 2020.

Further works include:      

 

Passchendaele – composed in 2017 to mark the centenary of the Battle of Passchendaele. The work was performed in the BBC’s live broadcast of the major 100th anniversary event in Bruges, for which the BBC Production Team received a BAFTA Award in 2018. 

​

Earth Dance – A Cantata in Six Parts, for choir and orchestra, written to mark the Biennial Meeting of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in London, April 2018.  

​

Cenotaph Requiem – an eleven-movement work, written in 2018 to mark the 100th Anniversary of the end of World War I - a large scale work for choir and orchestra, which  incorporates elements of the Latin Mass, interspersed with Instrumental movements that portray a chronological narrative of World War I. In September 2024, Cenotaph Requiem was performed by the Brussels Philharmonic and the Flanders Radio Choir in Brugge.

Songs of Peace – a five-movement work, written for orchestra, in 2020, to mark 75th anniversary of the end of World War Two.

​

Regina – a five-movement work, written for orchestra in February 2021, to mark the Ninety-Fifth Anniversary of the Birthday of Her Majesty the Queen, Head of The Commonwealth, in the seventieth year of Her Majesty’s Reign. 

​

Green Canopy - a twelve-movement work, for solo violin and orchestra, released in March 2022, in support of The Queen’s Green Canopy as part of Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee. 

​

Trumpet Call - work for solo Trumpet and symphonic wind band, world-premiered by soloist Alan  Hughes, Principal Trumpet of the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
